Boundaries are the line between where we end and another person begins. It can be difficult to set and uphold our boundaries, and a lot of times this issue comes up in relationships. This workshop will explore mixed messaging around boundaries in society, what boundaries are and how to set them, and how to be genuinely you while in a relationship.

LGBTQ+ Support Group is for students that identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and those that are questioning if they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Students are provided with the opportunity to get together in a safe environment where they can learn from, and support, each other. Each week, we will discuss important issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face with topics being chosen by those who wish to participate. This group will be co-facilitated by Jacob Cameron, a therapist from USU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and Erika-Danielle Lundström, the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator at the Inclusion Center. Logan Mountain Biking: Bunchgrass

Grab your bike and come spend a few hours pedaling one of the many fantastic mountain biking trails in the Logan area. We will meet at the OP shop and pedal up to a local trailhead to ride. No trail riding experience necessary and beginners are welcome. Participants must be in good physical condition and prepared for moderate to strenuous physical activity. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bike (in working condition). If you need a bike, an OP rental is available for no charge. Body Liberation Support Group

This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation, with an emphasis on Body Justice and Fat Liberation, to illuminate the truth and move past societal/cultural messaging in an effort to liberate each individual participant. This group will provide: A safe space to explore societal impacts on group members’ relationship with their bodies, self-image, and health. A safe space to share individual and collective experiences of living in this society; including workplace, dating, family of origin, social media, health systems, etc. A safe space to authentically connect with others around experiences, thoughts, and feelings of living in a thin-obsessed, fat-phobic culture. Fry Street Quartet in Concert: 20th Anniversary Concert Series

The 2022-2023 season is a celebration of the Fry Street Quartet's twenty years as quartet-in-residence at Utah State University. The opening program in the 20th anniversary season features a recent work by Iranian-Canadian composer Iman Habibi, as well as the ninth quartet of Shostakovich. Habibi's Beloved of the Sky takes its inspiration from iconic Canadian painter Emily Carr, and each short movement pays tribute to one of her individual works. The program closes with the sumptuous piano quintet of Nikolai Medtner, featuring USU Assistant Professor of Piano, Cahill Smith.

The Frontiers of Human Evolution: Where Does Radical Innovation Come From?

Where do large-scale changes in human evolution and economic progress come from? And how can we apply these insights to today?
In this open lecture, the biologist Stuart Kauffman and strategy scholar Teppo Felin address these questions. They discuss specific examples of technological innovation in the human evolutionary record and highlight their implications for understanding disruptive innovation and economic growth today.

“Tactical Urbanism : Action Sports recreation and the City” Over two decades of practise have given Mark and his consulting practise a unique perspective on how adults and youth adapt urban environments for recreation. With work specifically in Parkour, Skateboarding, and BMX facility design – Mark’s team has questioned the current perspective on placing all ‘play’ in parks or sanctioned facilities. Through engagement, observation, and absorption of youth culture – the VDZ+A team has prepared facility design to support socialization, and skill development for non traditional sports. In recent years, greater emphasis on supporting diversity, inclusion of varied backgrounds, skills, and abilities have come centre stage. A larger push to adapt the city to recreation in a Safe and engaging way. Making transportation, or a trip to the corner market – more of a recreational experience!

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers and First Aid course is to instruct those who have a duty to act (professional rescuers) in the knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies. LGBTQ+ Support Group is for students that identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and those that are questioning if they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Students are provided with the opportunity to get together in a safe environment where they can learn from, and support, each other. Each week, we will discuss important issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face with topics being chosen by those who wish to participate. This group will be co-facilitated by Jacob Cameron, a therapist from USU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and Erika-Danielle Lundström, the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator at the Inclusion Center. This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation, with an emphasis on Body Justice and Fat Liberation, to illuminate the truth and move past societal/cultural messaging in an effort to liberate each individual participant. This group will provide: A safe space to explore societal impacts on group members’ relationship with their bodies, self-image, and health. BIPOC support and Solidarity group is a peer-to-peer support group developed by BIPOC students for BIPOC students. This support group is available to all BIPOC students or students with Multiple Marginalized Identities. We are heading down south to the calm flowing waters of the Green River through Labyrinth Canyon, Wed, Oct. 12 through Sun, Oct. 16. We will load everything we need in canoes and paddle 45 miles of river winding through beautiful sandstone cliffs. Participants must be able to swim and prepared to paddle a canoe in variable springtime weather in a desert environment. We are heading down south to hike and bike the world renowned desert red rock in the Moab area, Oct. 13th through the 14th. We will spend the weekend exploring some of the amazing mountain biking trails while camping near Moab. Participants must be in good physical condition and prepared for moderate to strenuous biking in a desert environment. No prior experience necessary, beginners are most welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bike (in good working condition) or a rental is available from the OP for a nominal fee. Sizes and quantities are limited. Moab Mountain Biking Trip

We are heading down south to hike and bike the world renowned desert red rock in the Moab area, Oct. 13th through the 14th. We will spend the weekend exploring some of the amazing mountain biking trails while camping near Moab. Participants must be in good physical condition and prepared for moderate to strenuous biking in a desert environment. No prior experience necessary, beginners are most welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bike (in good working condition) or a rental is available from the OP for a nominal fee. Sizes and quantities are limited. Arrington Mormon History Lecture: Historical Archaeology and the Latter-day Saint Past

This lecture will review the history of archaeological investigations at sites connected to the Latter-day Saint past and examine the ways historical archaeology has contributed to our understanding of that past. Examples from various sites, where historical archaeologists have utilized a wide range of methods, illustrate the potential of historical archaeology to confirm, complete, correct, and sometimes confuse our understanding of the Latter-day Saint past.

LGBTQ+ Support Group is for students that identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and those that are questioning if they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Students are provided with the opportunity to get together in a safe environment where they can learn from, and support, each other. Each week, we will discuss important issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face with topics being chosen by those who wish to participate. This group will be co-facilitated by Jacob Cameron, a therapist from USU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and Erika-Danielle Lundström, the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator at the Inclusion Center. LGBTQ+ Support Group is for students that identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and those that are questioning if they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Students are provided with the opportunity to get together in a safe environment where they can learn from, and support, each other. Each week, we will discuss important issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face with topics being chosen by those who wish to participate. This group will be co-facilitated by Jacob Cameron, a therapist from USU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and Erika-Danielle Lundström, the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator at the Inclusion Center. "Evolutionary Clues to Protein Structural Mechanisms" Natarajan Kannan is associate professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Institute of Bioinformatics at the University of Georgia. His pioneering research addresses the evolutionary systems biology of protein kinases, which are enzymes that turn signals on and off in cells—a critical part of cell communication. Protein kinases are involved in a range of diseases from malaria to cancer. Kannan develops computational and experimental approaches to understand how natural sequence variation contributes to functional variation in protein kinases and how non-natural variation contributes to disease.

A scholar-performer with broad interests in music and religion of the African diaspora, he has conducted field research on popular music and religion in Haiti, Jamaica, and the United States. In these transnational contexts, he interrogates the cultural politics of popular culture and religious worship while attending to the role of musical style in constructing individual and collective identities. His research explores black music-making, improvisation, and transcendence, with an emphasis on discourses of cultural authenticity and power that inflect Spirit-filled Christian worship. Dr. Butler's first book, Island Gospel: Pentecostal Music and Identity in Jamaica and the United States (University of Illinois Press, 2019), examines the theological and experiential connections between Jamaican and African American Pentecostal music and gospel performance. His second book, tentatively titled Claiming Haiti: Music and the Cultural Politics of Transcendence in Haiti, is under contract with Oxford University Press. At the heart of his work lies a critic

Tails from the Crypt: Fundraiser for Cache Humane Society and student Scholarships

Join us for a fun filled celebration of Halloween and the Day of the Dead as we raise money for student scholarships and for a mural to be painted on the exterior of the Cache Humane Society. You'll be able to see a mock-up of the mural design at the event which also features a live and silent auction, DJ and dancing, a costume contest, the Center Street Witches, and a lot more. The event is sponsored by the Caine College of the Arts, the Department of Art + Design, the Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Science Department, the University Honors Program, the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, and the Center for Community Engagement. Concerts are part of the band large ensemble curriculum. As capstone events, they typically occur twice per semester. Students are required to participate in these events as a large part of their grades, and these concerts are the culmination of several weeks of classroom rehearsals. The Clothesline Project is a visual display of shirts with graphic messages and illustrations that have been designed by survivors of interpersonal violence or by someone who loves someone who has been killed. It was created as a way for survivors to share what has happened to them as well as highlight the realities behind statistics of domestic violence that are often overlooked. The project will be displayed across USU Campus at various dining services locations. Science Week: Spooky Science, Snacks & Slime

All Aggies are invited to enjoy "Spooky Science, Snacks & Slime" during USU Science Week 2022. Enjoy a root beer float or an orange Fanta indoors in the Taggart Student Center Hub, or hot chocolate on the TSC patio, along with Halloween-themed snacks. Try your hand at making slime! The gathering is hosted by the student-led Science Council as part of the celebratory week's activities.
LGBT+ Support Group
Workshop/Training
LGBTQ+ Support Group is for students that identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and those that are questioning if they are a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Students are provided with the opportunity to get together in a safe environment where they can learn from, and support, each other. Each week, we will discuss important issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face with topics being chosen by those who wish to participate. This group will be co-facilitated by Jacob Cameron, a therapist from USU Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and Erika-Danielle Lundström, the Gender and Sexuality Coordinator at the Inclusion Center. Koji Attwood, pianist
Arts/Entertainment
Koji Attwood made his solo debut at the age of ten, and one year later won 2nd prize at the Young Keyboard Artists International Competition. He earned 2nd prize at the Stravinsky and International Keyboard competitions and was a winner of Astral Artistic Services' 2003 International Auditions. Mr. Attwood has performed numerous solo recitals across much of the country, including concerts in Steinway Hall, Lincoln Center, and on the Kosciuszko Foundation Concert Series. Mr. Attwood partnered with Mikhail Baryshnikov for his 2002-03 solo tour of the United States, garnering praise for being "beautifully nuanced" [Cleveland Plain Dealer]. He is featured, along with pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin, on the 2009 "Rarities of Piano" Danacord release, and as an avid transcriber, has over twenty arrangements to his credit.
