Powder Mountain Skiing/Snowboarding Day

Come join us for a day of skiing/snowboarding at Powder Mountain resort. We will meet up at Outdoor Programs, load up our ski/snowboard gear, and head to Powder Mountain to burn some turns. All riding abilities are welcome as there is terrain for everyone. Trip cost includes transportation and Powder Mountain lift ticket. Discounted ski rentals are available for an additional $10. Many USU students, staff, and faculty are engaged in projects and research focused on the LGBTQIA+ community, as explored in the Utah State Today series, “Celebrating Pride.” Join us for a panel discussing approaches to research about, with, and by the LGBTQIA+ community. What key considerations should researchers center when studying gender and sexuality? From research design, to language use, to avoiding bias, to supporting researchers, what do inclusion, equity, and justice look like in practice? Panelists and attendees will reflect together on positionality, privilege, and marginalization, while taking away actionable practices for future research.
Lunch & Learn - Aetna: Mental Health Awareness in the Workplace

In this training, participants will learn; mental health statistics in the workplace, tools to help someone with a mental health issue, how to have hard conversations, and ways to offer support. Art Gallery + Live Music Charity Event for Guatemala

The Rotaract Club of USU is hosting a live music and an art gallery charity event showcasing emerging, local Utah artists! Tickets are $1 per guest. Pieces of artwork will be up for grabs, free with any donation. All proceeds will go to helping kids in Guatemala finish their education. Right now only about 40% of Guatemalan kids make it to 6th grade, and 25% end up finishing high school because it is so expensive. Come have some snacks and enjoy the music and art!

Please join us for a pre-show panel discussion for The Moors on Friday, February 11 at 6:45 p.m. Panelists Dr. Nicola Olsen (theatre historian and dramaturg), Dr. Keri Holt (18th and 19th century American literature scholar), and Prof. Paul Mitri (director) will answer questions about the play, 19th century literature, and women's roles in historical literature and contemporary theatre.

Red Lentil Dahl Meal Kit

We are excited to begin our 2022 Spring SNAC meal kit series! Our first meal kit will launch next week- Red Lentil Dahl. The purpose of selling meal kits through the Student Nutrition Access Center is to allow USU students to explore new foods, try new cooking methods, and prepare nutritious meals. Each meal kit contains the exact ingredients and an easy-to-follow recipe that makes 3-4 servings. Meal kits will be sold at cost, so the cost of each meal kit will vary each week due to ingredient cost. There will be 15 registration spots each week so keep an eye out for meal kit registration opening each week! Register on GivePulse! We will accept cards, PayPal, and Venmo. Cash will not be accepted.

Every Body Rocks: Nutrition Series

February is National Eating Disorder Awareness month and to bring more awareness to this issue, we will be teaching Every Body Rocks classes (from the curriculum designed by Brooke Parker, RD). This is a series of classes promoting Intuitive Eating and positive body image. There will be 4 classes taught by senior USU Dietetic students. It is recommended that you come to all four classes as they will all have different content but you can attend just one class also. The curriculum is geared towards female students, however, there is something for everyone to learn from these classes so please join us! Register at recportal.usu.edu.

This week’s speaker is Adam Morgan, who is an Executive Creative Director at Adobe with 26 years of experience in creativity, strategy, and storytelling. In 2020, AdWeek named him one of the “Creative 100”—the top inspiring creative minds in marketing, media, and culture—in the world. Before Adobe, Adam was a creative director at several international ad agencies, delivering award-winning advertising campaigns. He was named a 40 under 40 Business Leader by Utah Business Magazine and Utah Ad Professional of the Year in 2014. He’s one of the few creative leaders to have a master’s degree in marketing strategy from Northwestern.

USU Symphonic Band Winter Concert

Concerts are part of the band large ensemble curriculum. As capstone events, they typically occur twice per semester. Students are required to participate in these events as a large part of their grades, and these concerts are the culmination of several weeks of classroom rehearsals. Dawn Patrol Beginner Backcountry Ski Tour
Workshop/Training
Come grab some backcountry turns with us! We will venture into the backcountry to seek out snow that you can't get to on a ski lift. Learn some of the basics of backcountry travel and safety. No backcountry experience is required but you must be comfortable riding double blue to black diamond resort terrain. Participants must be prepared for strenuous hiking. Backcountry touring skis or splitboard with skins are required and available to rent for an additional $10+tax for trip participants. NO SNOWSHOES. Trip cost includes transportation, avalanche beacon, shovel, probe, and student leadership. All participants must be fully vaccinated, have health insurance, and abide by OP and University Policies.
