Conflict Management for Women: Skills, Strategies, and Solutions
Workshop/Training
The Utah Women & Leadership Project invites you to join us for our Spring Workshop.
Is what you are doing in conflict working for you? Are you getting what you hope for? Are you able to cultivate connection, cooperation, trust, or peace? Clair and Carlee have spent the last five years gathering research, testing ideas, and training learners on what really works for managing conflict. From this work, they have developed a framework that creates a new mindset and language for approaching conflict.
This new mindset can transform how relationships, businesses, and communities prosper and thrive when there is resistance, discord, or clashing values. This framework has shifted how thousands of individuals view and engage in conflict. Join us for a workshop designed for women to learn specific skill sets, strategies, and processes that help find flow and peace in conflict.

International Fly Fishing Film Festival
Special Event | Inclusive Excellence
IF4™ is the world’s leading fly-fishing film event, consisting of films produced by professional filmmakers from all corners of the globe and showcases the passion, lifestyle, and culture of fly fishing. Created by fly anglers for fly anglers, it is the gathering place of the fly-fishing community and a celebration of friendship, fly-fishing stories and stoke. These events also have giveaways! This year the funds raised from IF4 to the North Eden Creek project at Bear Lake, Utah. Jim DeRito, a Fisheries Restoration Project Manager at Trout Unlimited, is working to reconnect North Eden creek to Bear Lake. Currently the creek has an impassable culvert at the county road crossing and due to irrigation practices the creek runs dry for much of the year. This project will redesign the road crossing to allow for fish migration and replace the irrigation system used by landowners with a more efficient version pumped from well water to allow instream flow year-round. This will reconnect the lake to 10 more miles of historical spawning habitat, an approximately 50% increase in available spawning grounds, for the endemic Bear Lake Cutthroat which is currently not accessible to the fish.

International Women’s Day Celebration: Utah Women Learn, Lead, & Lift
Panel Discussion/Presentation
Even though Utah has such a powerful history of women using their voices to change society for the better, in recent years Utah has consistently been ranked as one of the worst states for women’s equality. However, Utah women are now emerging in vital ways that lift homes, schools, workplaces, communities, and society at large. As Margaret Mead famously stated, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." As more Utah women collectively strive to use their unique gifts and capacities in ways that can positively transform society, all Utahns can rise together.
This event will be hosted and moderated by Nubia Pena (Senior Advisor for Equity & Opportunity to the Cox-Henderson Administration) and Dr. Susan Madsen (Founding Director, Utah Women & Leadership Project, Utah State University). This one hour power-packed event will have many speakers from diverse backgrounds who will share their thoughts on learning, leading, and lifting. RSVP today!

From Utah State University to Utah State Prison: The Rise and Fall of Mark Hofmann, Forger and Bomber
Lecture/Readings
The Friends of the Merrill-Cazier Library present "From Utah State University to Utah State Prison: The Rise and Fall of Mark Hofmann, Forger and Bomber with Richard E. Turley Jr." In 1980, Mark Hofmann was an obscure student at USU. One morning that year, he walked into the University Library with a discovery that helped catapult him to fame as a document dealer. Over the next five years, his document discoveries expanded from those related to Latter-day Saint and Utah history to stunning pieces of Americana. Then in October 1985, three bombs went off in the Salt Lake Valley, the first fatally injuring a businessman who was a Hofmann client, the second killing the wife of the businessman's associate, and the third nearly killing Hofmann himself. The ensuing investigation proved that Hofmann was the serial bomber and that virtually all of his key discoveries were forgeries. This lecture, presented by Richard E. Turley Jr., will discuss the story that inspired Netflix's Murder Among the Mormons documentary.
