Join us in part 1 of our Stress and Anxiety Management workshop series where you will gain a better understanding of yourself and take away at least three skills you can use immediately to make life a bit more manageable.

Body Liberation Book Club

Join us for our second Body Liberation Book Club! This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation. The Body Is Not an Apology offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by violent systems of oppression. World-renowned activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength. Free and open to students, faculty, and staff! We will be meeting three times this fall semester: October 4th, October 18th, and November 1st. We will be handing out the book* and reading schedule all day on September 21st in TSC 313. *Books are available for free to the first 20 registrants, so be sure to register now using the link below.
Nutrition Nightmares: Sorting through Misinformation

This will be a 1-hour presentation on sorting through nutrition misinformation that we find on the internet, social media, and other sources. You will learn about common nutrition myths and how to tell if information you find regarding nutrition is true! This presentation is put on by graduate-level Dietetics students. It is also Halloween-themed, so come and join us for an hour of fun!

Understanding Macronutrients for the College Student

This will be a 30-minute mini nutrition workshop on tips to making sure college students are getting the proper nutrition through their diet! This class is put on by senior USU Dietetics students.
Getting Unstuck: Strategies to Manage Depression
Workshop/Training
College life is full of emotional peaks and valleys, but some valleys run deeper and longer than others. Sometimes we can feel stuck and unsure of how to climb back up. This workshop takes a hopeful and creative view of depression as a journey. You will learn to better understand depression, its role in your life, and how it can be a starting point on your personal journey of becoming.

Women in Welding Workshop
Workshop/Training
Over the course of three sessions, participants will learn how to set up a welder for GMAW/FCAW, apply basic troubleshooting techniques, use basic shop tools and machinery, and will be introduced to entry-level fabrication techniques. Students will complete a small project by the end of the course to take home with them.
This workshop runs three consecutive Saturdays, September 23, 30 and October 7, 2023.

CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & First Aid
Workshop/Training
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers and First Aid course is to instruct those who have a duty to act (professional rescuers) in the knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. This includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to care for a victim experiencing cardiac arrest. This is a blended learning course, you should expect a direct link to the online content to be sent to your email 3 days prior to the course to complete the online learning content prior to the start time of the course. Trans/Nonbinary Allies on Campus aims to increase awareness and understanding of our trans/nonbinary community and further understand specific trans/nonbinary issues while training participants to stand with, and advocate for trans/nonbinary individuals. Participants will gain a basic understanding of sex, sexuality, and gender and how these concepts perpetuate microaggressions, discrimination policies, and daily biases. Prepare to dispel some common myths, laugh, and leave with the understanding that there is much work to be done in our community and you are part of the solution. Wilderness First Aid Course (WFA)
Workshop/Training
This course is a great introduction to wilderness medicine and basic life support skills. It is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast who wants more than an urban first aid course provides. The emphasis of the class is on recognizing and treating life-threatening traumatic and medical emergencies, common wilderness injuries, bandaging and splinting, and environmental injuries. CPR is included in the curriculum.
