Impact is a curated art and design exhibition that features work done by USU students, as a part of the Artists in Action conference, hosted by the CCA. The event is made to create space for dialogue on climate change and the extraordinary challenges we face as a result. A panel of jurors will select a number of pieces to highlight with awards.

Graduate Student Spring Closing Social

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is holding a closing social for graduate students to celebrate their work during the Spring 2022 Semester. There will be a free pasta dinner and the opportunity mingle and network with fellow graduate students. Spouses, significant others, and/or children of graduate students are welcome to attend.
SGS recognizes the event is during Ramadan and will have to-go boxes for students observing who would still like to attend the event.

Increasing Our Critical Consciousness of Anti-Black Racism is a presentation that will (a) introduce the Critical Consciousness of Anti-Black Racism Model (Mosley et al., 2020), (b) explain racial trauma as it manifests for Black people in the US today, (c) provide an overview of practical approaches to antiracism and resistance that can help reduce the negative racial trauma impacts on Black people, and (d) provide resources that will facilitate reflection and highlight personalized pathways toward critical antiracist actions specific to the Black community.

Mindful Movement | Yin Yoga

Working at the Intersections: Critical Race Scholarship and Pedagogy Today
Panel Discussion/Presentation
Join USU's Center for Intersectional Gender Studies & Research and the USU Libraries for a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Christy Glass. This is the final event in the "Intersections on Inclusion" series for the 2021-2022 academic year. Recent conversations in Utah and nationwide highlight the debate and division surrounding Critical Race Theory (CRT) in education. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the ways CRT informs and deepens our teaching, research, and community engagement in higher education. Panelists will explore how they use CRT in the classroom and in their research, and discuss how doing so advances USU’s mission of “cultivating diversity of thought and culture" and “serving the public through learning, discovery, and engagement.” Join us for an engaging—and celebratory—discussion that will reenergize our shared purpose in this work and build connections across our university. Labyrinth Canyon Canoe Trip

APRIL 13-17: We are heading down south to the calm flowing waters of the Green River through Labyrinth Canyon. We will load everything we need in canoes and paddle 45 miles of river winding through beautiful sandstone cliffs. Participants must be able to swim and prepared to paddle a canoe in variable springtime weather in a desert environment. The trip cost includes sales tax, food, transportation, vehicle shuttle, permit fee, canoes, tent, sleeping bag, pad, cooking equipment and student leadership. REGISTER AT RECPORTAL.USU.EDU

Artists in Action Conference: Keynote Speaker María del Mar González-González

The CCA Artists in Action Conference is set to take place April 11-15, 2021 at Utah State University through the Caine College of the Arts. The aim of this conference is to empower emerging artists and students of USU to engage with community members and causes with purpose and intention—to be able to instigate and participate in sustainable, positive, and mutual change. The highlight of this conference is the keynote address by assistant professor of global modern and contemporary art history, María del Mar González-González.

Sophomore piano recital for Sam Gardner, a student of Elzbieta Bilicka and Ryan Conger. Debussy's Suite Bergamasque, Haydn's Sonata in B Minor, Miles Davis' Freddie Freeloader, and McCoy Tyner's Sunset will be performed among other pieces. Accompanied by Lane Reinecker and Karsen Phillips.
Prenatal Yoga

Designed as a 6 class series, with each class building upon the last, Prenatal Yoga is focused on increasing strength and comfort during pregnancy through alignment-based yoga techniques. We will also emphasize labor preparation through movement and breath, strengthening your body and nervous system for an empowering birth experience, and teaching you some powerful tools to carry with you into the postpartum period. The 6-week program is only $10. Drop-in passes cost $5 for each class.

Let's Talk About Sex (Sexual Health Workshop Series)

Students often feel uncomfortable talking about sex or confidently setting boundaries. This 3-part series will increase students’ knowledge about sexual health and sexuality, and empower them to be more specific and proactive when setting their boundaries in romantic and/or sexual relationships. Join the Office of Equity's Undergraduate Peer Educators for any or all of these student-led workshops, depending on your interest and availability: Part 1, April 2nd, 2-3pm: Demystifying Sex Sex-education basics like reproductive system anatomy, consent conversations, and gender identity & expression. Part 2, April 9th, 2-3pm: "Sextras" Information on hygiene, birth control, and STIs. ~Novelty condom giveaway~ Learn important health facts and get a glow in the dark or flavored condom! Part 3, April 16th, 2-3pm: Non-heteronormative Sex-Ed Safe sex isn't just for "straight" sex. Chat about how you define sexual boundaries and virginity, and learn about safe sex and consent conversations in a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students. Join us Saturdays in April in the Big Blue Room from 2-3pm, and Let's Talk About Sex!

1940's-Style Hangar Hop - Presented by the USU Aviation Flight Team
Special Event
Come dance under a parachute at this 1940's and USO-themed dance in the USU hangar at the Logan/Cache airport. With live music from the Cache Community Band and the Benson Sisters, and dance instruction from the USU Swing Club, the feel of this night will be a trip back in time. Get your tickets now ($10) and come dressed up in your best imitation of the 1940s (encouraged, but not required). Photo opportunities will also be available.
