CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & First Aid

Workshop/Training

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers and First Aid course is to instruct those who have a duty to act (professional rescuers) in the knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. This includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to care for a victim experiencing cardiac arrest. This is a blended learning course, you should expect a direct link to the online content to be sent to your email 3 days prior to the course to complete the online learning content prior to the start time of the course. Is there a Future for Civil Discourse in Politics?

Panel Discussion/Presentation

Engaging in conversations across political divides helps us find common ground and moves our country toward a stronger democracy. In this workshop, Utah State Representative Dan Johnson (Republican) and Patrick Belmont (2022 Democratic Candidate) will share their personal experiences engaging in respectful discussion of issues to find mutual understanding and make informed decisions for the greater good. This workshop is co-sponsored by the USU Heravi Peace Institute and the Center for Community Engagement.

Meet and Greet Victoria Petro, Salt Lake city Council Member and Vice Chair

Student Activities

Salt Lake City Council Member and Vice Chair, Victoria Petro, will be on campus to present GETTING CREATIVE ABOUT OUR DEMOCRACY: COMPOSING HARMONIOUS FUTURES, a discussion on public policy, community building, music, and culture. The Institute of Government and Politics has joined the LatinX Cultural Center to bring Victoria Petro to campus. This event is free and open to USU students, faculty and staff.

Wilderness First Aid Course (WFA)

Workshop/Training

This course is a great introduction to wilderness medicine and basic life support skills. It is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast who wants more than an urban first aid course provides. The emphasis of the class is on recognizing and treating life-threatening traumatic and medical emergencies, common wilderness injuries, bandaging and splinting, and environmental injuries. CPR is included in the curriculum.
