Childcare Symposium: Practices, Policies, and Strategies to Move Utah Forward

Panel Discussion/Presentation

Utah families and a growing number of employers often name access to high-quality, affordable childcare as a key barrier to prosperity in our state, especially for low- and moderate-income families. The questions then become: How can we increase childcare access and affordability in Utah so our families and workplaces can thrive? Why is this topic becoming more and more important for employers today? What childcare resources can employers provide to their workers? What public policies can help families and employers in Utah regarding childcare? What are policy challenges and opportunities? What are general challenges, strategies, and solutions for Utah families regarding childcare? Overall, this two-hour online symposium will focus on practices, policies, and strategies that can move Utah forward.

Register to attend.

Mindfulness Meditation | Sitting in breath and presence

Recreation

FREE REGISTRATION: https://bit.ly/mindfulnessandmeditationweekly Mindfulness is a type of meditation in which you focus on being intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling in the moment, without interpretation or judgment. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress. Mindfulness meditation has been proven to support various health conditions - stress, anxiety, pain, depression, insomnia, high blood pressure, fibromyalgia, and more - and help you experience thoughts and emotions with greater balance and acceptance, improve attentiveness, and relieve burnout. Practicing self care through mindfulness and meditation can help you relax and focus on what is most important - your overall wellness. This is a weekly, online wellness series hosted by the Utah State University Office of Health Equity and Community Engagement and Tribal & Rural Opioid Initiative Resource Center.

Backpack to Briefcase: Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

Workshop/Training | Focused Friday

Feeling like you aren't capable, skilled, or good enough is completely normal in that transition to a new internship or your first-time role; many call this feeling Imposter Syndrome. As you walk into an interview or even your first day on the job, it's easy to feel like you don't belong there. This mindset doesn't serve you! In our first Spring Backpack to Briefcase event, we will hear from Paul Fjeldsted, Senior Lecturer in the Economics and Finance Department. Paul will share his experience as a small-town, liberal arts major, entering into one of New York’s biggest banks and attending Harvard Business School. Join live on the Huntsman YouTube Channel.
