Ecology Center seminar: Dr. Priyanga Amarasekare

Join us for the Ecology Center seminar presentations by Dr. Priyanga Amarasekare on October 11th and 12th. Dr. Amarasekare is a professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her work primarily focuses on mechanisms that maintain biodiversity in variable environments. The seminars will be held from 4-5pm in the Life Sciences Building Room 133.

Inclusive Excellence Symposium

As a part of ongoing efforts to create a more equitable and inclusive community, the USU Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is launching its Inclusive Excellence Symposium. This year's Inclusive Excellence Symposium aims to identify, define, and relate inclusive excellence and its practices to research, teaching, leadership, and academic excellence through formal workshops and TedED-style presentations. We also hope to facilitate and recognize collaborative efforts advancing diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence at USU postering and other asynchronous methods highlighting work across campus and the community.

Getting Creative About Our Democracy: Composing Harmonious Futures with Victoria Petro

Victoria Petro, Vice Chair of the Salt Lake City Council, will be on campus to present “Getting Creative About Our Democracy: Composing Harmonious Futures." She has a fascinating story about the fusion of her passion for music and her public service in the community and state. In addition to serving on the Council, she was also appointed to serve on the Utah Inland Port Authority Board of Directors representing Salt Lake City. Faculty and staff are invited to attend. There is no fee nor pre-registration required.

Victoria Petro, Salt Lake City Council Member and Vice Chair

Salt Lake City Council Member and Vice Chair, Victoria Petro, will be on campus to present GETTING CREATIVE ABOUT OUR DEMOCRACY: COMPOSING HARMONIOUS FUTURES, a discussion on public policy, community building, music, and culture. The Institute of Government and Politics has joined the LatinX Cultural Center to bring Victoria Petro to campus. This event is free and open to USU students, faculty and staff.
