Body Liberation Book Club
Workshop/Training
Join us for our second Body Liberation Book Club! This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation. The Body Is Not an Apology offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by violent systems of oppression. World-renowned activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength. Free and open to students, faculty, and staff! We will be meeting three times this fall semester: October 4th, October 18th, and November 1st. We will be handing out the book* and reading schedule all day on September 21st in TSC 313. *Books are available for free to the first 20 registrants, so be sure to register now using the link below.
Conducting an Inclusive Search: Best Practices

The Office of Equity’s “Conducting an Inclusive Search: Best Practices” training will help hiring and search committees understand the ways in which they can limit bias during the hiring and search processes. It is an interactive training that focuses on the various aspects of the processes (from establishing group operating procedures to evaluating candidate interviews). It can be tailored to the needs of the individual hiring or search committee.

College life is full of emotional peaks and valleys, but some valleys run deeper and longer than others. Sometimes we can feel stuck and unsure of how to climb back up. This workshop takes a hopeful and creative view of depression as a journey. You will learn to better understand depression, its role in your life, and how it can be a starting point on your personal journey of becoming.

This is not a class that you take once and forget. You will identify the unique qualities of the chakras; become familiar with your own body intuitively; unblock and balance your energy; help heal and develop your mind, body and spirit; and learn to know yourself and discover personal harmony and balance.

Women in Welding Workshop
Workshop/Training
Over the course of three sessions, participants will learn how to set up a welder for GMAW/FCAW, apply basic troubleshooting techniques, use basic shop tools and machinery, and will be introduced to entry-level fabrication techniques. Students will complete a small project by the end of the course to take home with them.
This workshop runs three consecutive Saturdays, September 23, 30 and October 7, 2023.

Chandler Squire will discuss appropriate body mechanics and ergonomics for sitting and standing positions, as well as addressing environmental considerations. He will also cover movements to address mechanical strain as well as fatigue and stress reduction. CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & First Aid
Workshop/Training
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers and First Aid course is to instruct those who have a duty to act (professional rescuers) in the knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. This includes the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) to care for a victim experiencing cardiac arrest. This is a blended learning course, you should expect a direct link to the online content to be sent to your email 3 days prior to the course to complete the online learning content prior to the start time of the course. Trans Allies on Campus Training

Trans/Nonbinary Allies on Campus aims to increase awareness and understanding of our trans/nonbinary community and further understand specific trans/nonbinary issues while training participants to stand with, and advocate for trans/nonbinary individuals. Participants will gain a basic understanding of sex, sexuality, and gender and how these concepts perpetuate microaggressions, discrimination policies, and daily biases. Prepare to dispel some common myths, laugh, and leave with the understanding that there is much work to be done in our community and you are part of the solution. USU HELPS: Helping Everyone Learn to Prevent Suicide

This training is for any members of USU community who want to assist other USU students in distress by reaching out and connecting them to right resources. Wilderness First Aid Course (WFA)
Workshop/Training
This course is a great introduction to wilderness medicine and basic life support skills. It is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast who wants more than an urban first aid course provides. The emphasis of the class is on recognizing and treating life-threatening traumatic and medical emergencies, common wilderness injuries, bandaging and splinting, and environmental injuries. CPR is included in the curriculum.
