USU Be Well along with Registered Dietitian, Brooke Lister and Certified Strength Coach, Tony Popoca present a lunch and learn on creating sustainable health goals. The new year is filled with new resolutions to lose weight, but they often don't last past January. Although losing weight can be good for overall health, focusing on weight loss alone can lead to cycles of losing and regaining weight, lower self-esteem, and a preoccupation with food and body image. You'll find more success if you set goals that focus on health instead of weight loss only. This presentation will discuss behaviors, goals, and strategies that will lead to more sustainable outcomes in the way you look and feel! *Presentation is available in person and virtually and will be recorded. This workshop is for folks who are interested in getting a more in-depth understanding of the data visualization, plotting, and figure-making capabilities of baseR. This workshop will be taught be the EC's own Michael Stemkovski, a PhD student in BIOL. This workshop will cover: Beautifying your base-R plots Setting up plotting windows Multiple panels Touching up figures outside of R Animating figures Sign-up occurs on a first come-first serve basis, and we will be capping attendance at 25-30 attendees!

Getting data organized is a key first step of any research project, and this workshop is for folks who want to learn easy and quick data manipulation and wrangling tools from the tidyverse() package (including the %>% function), and those who are curious about the R visualization capabilities of ggplot(). Intuitive Eating is a practice, not a diet. There are 10 principles outlined in Intuitive Eating, however there are no food rules. The goal of Intuitive Eating is to follow your individualized body cues regarding food & nutrition and really understand and honor what your body needs. Diet culture tells us that our appearance and body shape are more important than physical, psychological, and general well-being. It's the idea that controlling your body, particularly your diet—by limiting what and how much you eat—is normal. This workshop will explore the harmful effects of diet culture, debunk the myths it tells us about our food and bodies, and how to take of ourselves in a world surrounded with diet culture.
