How can mindfulness improve our sexual health? Physical intimacy with others and ourselves can be hindered by societal messages - but those aren't the restraints that should be present in our sexual exploration and lives. In this one-hour discussion, we will talk about the relationship between mindfulness and sexual health, and how being intentional, present, and compassionate may unlock a healthier relationship with our own bodies and deepen our connection with others.

Putting artificial intelligence (AI) to work in the classroom to improve student outcomes
Workshop/Training
Generative AI can be useful in creative contexts to reduce production time and improve student work. In this workshop, Dr. Ben George from the LAEP department will share ideas for incorporating these tools into course assignments and show how AI image generation tools, such as Dall-E 2, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion, have been used to help students create assets for design renderings.
Women in Welding Workshop

NOTE: This workshop is now full. We will be offering more workshops soon!
Over the course of four sessions, participants will learn how to set up
a welder for GMAW/FCAW, apply basic troubleshooting techniques,
use basic shop tools and machinery, and will be introduced to
entry-level fabrication techniques. Students will complete a small
project by the end of the course to take home with them.
We are excited to educate and support women in the trades, and hope
you will join us for lots of fun and real-world learning!
Let's Have Pizza and Let's Talk Men

Facilitating Students Engagement with Challenging Material: The Power of Literary Learning Circles

Many of us teach required courses that are not at the top of most students' list of classes they are most excited to take. Small group learning circles have been a powerful tool we have used over the past three years to improve student engagement with course material in what we have come to call in Social Work, high resistance topic areas/courses. The response from students has been overwhelmingly positive and the experience of faculty has been equally positive. Come learn about how you might adapt this assignment/tool to enhance your students learning and your own teaching experience.

While it’s hard to deny the advantages of technology, many have an unhealthy attachment to it. Feeling like you’re caught up in the social media madness and need to recharge? This training will talk about symptoms of technology burnout, physical and emotional effects of connection overload, how to begin a digital “detox”, the positives of unplugging to recharge our bodies and minds, and steps to have a better balance.

Youth Welding Workshop

For youth ages 14-18
Over the course of two sessions, participants will learn how to set up a welder for GMAW/FCAW, apply basic troubleshooting techniques, and use basic shop tools and machinery. Workshop is four hours total over two days.
Sessions are:
Friday, April 21 from 6:15 - 8:15 PM and
Saturday, April 22 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.
Lunch & Learn - Plant Based Diets 101

USU Be Well and Registered Dietitian, Brooke Lister, present a lunch and learn on plant based diets. A plant based diet is any diet that focuses on foods derived from plant sources. However, people often have different interpretations of what “plant-based” eating looks like. Plant-based diets have many nutritional benefits that impact our health but we want to make sure we are getting a variety of plant-based foods to get all the nutrients we need. In this presentation, we will talk about the benefits of plant-based diets and steps you can take to implement a more plant-based diet that is well-rounded and will give you the nutrition you need. *Presentation is available in person and virtually and will be recorded. Automotive Workshop - Diagnostic Procedures

Come to this FREE workshop to learn how to diagnose vehicles more efficiently by learning a repeatable diagnostic process. We will be learning about the 7-step diagnostic process to stay organized and efficient while performing diagnostics on various vehicles. We will also learn how to use different tools to help diagnose vehicles including scan tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment.

The Honors Inclusive Pedagogy Sparkshop will focus on navigating power dynamics in the classroom. Discussion topics will include understanding various relationships among the positionalities of the instructor and students, empowering the voices of all students, and managing power imbalances or contra-power challenges in the classroom. The discussion will result in 2-3 specific strategies for building an inclusive, balanced, and empowering classroom.
