Lunch & Learn - How to Budget as a Family

USU Be Well and Extension's Empowering Financial Wellness Program present a lunch and learn on budgeting as a family. Oftentimes, money is considered a taboo topic or hard to talk about subject, especially with children. We want to teach them about the value of saving, practicing good financial habits and involve them in the family budget, especially if you grew up in a household where money matters weren't discussed. Join us for some tips and tools to help you get the whole family involved in the money conversation, even the kids. And you don’t have to be a finance expert to be successful with these tips and tools!! Join us to learn about setting money goals as a family, ways kids can learn about money at different ages and stages of their education and tips to get kids motivated to learn about money and budgeting.
*Presentation will be recorded. Attendance and participation in this event qualify as an activity for the Be Well Rewards program.

Front & Center Webinar "General Education at Utah State University
Workshop/Training
Utah State University is offering the General Education Certificate of Completion (GECC) to all Utah State University students who earn the certificate. This session will describe the purpose of the GECC, the processes that will award the certificate, and existing general education recognition that will sunset (Letter of Completion, Interstate Passport). In addition, presenters will inform the campus community of changes to General Education courses for the 2024-2025 catalog. Finally, a short training on updates to the General Education Petition for academic advisors will be provided.

Health & Wellness Expo: Basic Awareness Defensive Action (BADA)

Come and learn general information for basic self defense and awareness in this free class provided by Campus Recreation. Depending on class size, we may get out pads and show some of the basic moves for self defense. Pre-registration is required and limited to the first 30 people. The Health and Wellness Expo is sponsored by USU Be Well, Student Health and Wellness, and Campus Recreation.
LGBT+ Allies on Campus Training

In this fast pace two hour training, participants will learn about microaggressions, terminology, and key issues that impact the LGBT+ community. Participants will have the opportunity to sign an allies pledge and receive an ally sticker. Registration is required to receive the zoom link.

Weber County 4-H Favorite Foods Contest
Workshop/Training | Utah 4-H and Youth
Contestants will be judged on their selection, knowledge and presentation of a favorite food. Be prepared to discuss your favorite food – why it’s your favorite, where you got the recipe, any special techniques used while preparing it, and anything you’d like to share about your favorite food. Come prepared to display your favorite food which was prepared beforehand and provide samples to the judges to taste. Enter as a team of 2 or individual.
Maker's Loft Workshop: Creating Buttons Using Online Tools

Front & Center Webinar "Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC)
Workshop/Training
The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) program at USU is a training program that prepares college students to become officers in the United States Air Force and Space Force. Students work with Detachment 860 to qualify for a commission as an officer in the Air Force or Space Force, while simultaneously completing their university undergraduate degree requirements. This session will provide program requirements and information to support students in the AFROTC program.
Trans Allies on Campus Training

Trans/Nonbinary Allies on Campus aims to increase awareness and understanding of our trans/nonbinary community and further understand specific trans/nonbinary issues while training participants to stand with, and advocate for trans/nonbinary individuals. Participants will gain a basic understanding of sex, sexuality, and gender and how these concepts perpetuate microaggressions, discrimination policies, and daily biases. Prepare to dispel some common myths, laugh, and leave with the understanding that there is much work to be done in our community and you are part of the solution. This session will provide an overview of the importance of sleep for optimal health as well as a summary of the key drivers for poor sleep in our current work and home environments. In addition, we will discuss practical tips to implement to improve the quantity and quality of sleep. The information provide will be useful for adults, youth, and children to improve overall health and wellness. *Presentation will be recorded. Using Bloom's Taxonomy to Craft Better Questions to Engage Students

Have you wondered about how you can encourage students to engage with your material at a deeper level? Have you heard of Bloom Taxonomy, but maybe it’s been a while? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, join us for this Sparkshop. In this Sparkshop we will explore the revised version of Bloom’s Taxonomy (2001) and investigate how it can guide you in crafting deeper discussion questions. Spoiler alert, the authors of the revised taxonomy have done much of the work for us already.
