Moab Paddling & Camping
Recreation
We are heading down south near Moab to spend the weekend playing on the Colorado River in the Moab area. We will enjoy our nights camped in beautiful red rock country while we paddle the rapids of the Moab Daily section. Participants must be able to swim and prepared for fun on the water. Trip cost includes: food, transportation, campground fees, river equipment, tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad and student leadership.

Wassermann Piano Series, Young Artist: Dominic Doutney

Dominic Doutney is a rising young concert pianist, born in Britain and currently based in Chicago. He will present a program of Brahms, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff at Utah State University in advance of his Kennedy Center debut next month.

Liszt: Sposalizio, Chasse neige, and Concert Etude No. 1
Rachmaninoff: 13 Preludes, Op. 32
Garnering awards and top prizes from the 2024 Washington International Competition, Luminarts Cultural Foundation, Mauro Paolo Monopoli International Competition in Barletta, Italy, the Jaén International Piano Competition in Spain, the Clamo International Competition in Murcia, Spain and the Lyon International Competition, Dominic is also the winner of the Royal Over-Seas League Award for Keyboard, the Norah Sande Award, the Walled City Festival competition in Derry, Northern Ireland, and Semana Internacional de Piano de Óbidos in Portugal. Dominic has made appearances on BBC Radio 3, CNBC, and recently performed an all-Rachmaninoff recital on Portugal’s biggest classical music radio station, Antena 2.

Uintah High School Freshman in Miss Martindale's College and Career Readiness classes will participate in tours of the USU Uintah Basin Vernal campus. They will hear information on scholarships, concurrent enrollment as well as enjoy presentations from some of our local faculty.

The World Languages Film Festival presents Arrival (2016).
This sci-fi film explores the arrival of mysterious alien spacecrafts around the world. Linguist Louise Banks is recruited to decipher their language, leading to profound discoveries about communication, time, and humanity. As she unravels the aliens' message, the film delves into themes of fate, loss, and interconnectedness across time.

No climbing experience is necessary for this trip and all abilities are welcome. Participants must be prepared for overnight camping, moderate hiking and heights. The trip cost includes transportation, food, camping fees, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, tent, group climbing equipment and shoes, helmet and harness. Space is limited, so register today!

Science Unwrapped - Can We Live the Good Life and Keep Our Planet Healthy?

Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to Science Unwrapped, the public STEM outreach program of USU's College of Science. Watershed scientist Patrick Belmont, professor in USU's Department of Watershed Sciences, presents "Can We Live the Good Life and Keep Our Planet Healthy?" at 7 pm in the Emert Auditorium (ESLC 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center on the USU campus, Logan. Admission is free. Refreshments and hands-on learning activities follow Dr. Belmont's talk. Talk Description: Watershed scientist Patrick Belmont explores how we can better align economics and sustainability to put us on track for improving quality of life for people, while protecting the ecosystems on which our economy depends. Drawing on collaborations he’s convened with scientists, land managers and entrepreneurs, Belmont illustrates how we can pool our knowledge and energy to create communities that can thrive in the ever changing social, cultural, and economic landscape. Dr. Belmont's talk is part of Science Unwrapped's Fall 2024 "Joining Forces" series.
