Dressed in White
Exhibition
Prepare to step into the grand finale of a series of exquisite exhibitions as we present "Dressed in White," curated by the esteemed award-winning Nancy Hills.
This captivating showcase marks the culmination of Nancy's illustrious journey, which has seen numerous exhibitions and tours across the United States and England, guided by the insightful retired curator Althea MacKenzie. Styled after the opulence of the 18th century, this exhibition promises to be a fitting conclusion to Nancy's legacy of bringing historical fashion to life. Following in the footsteps of Janet Arnold to admiring styles-of-the-time garments in London, Nancy has meticulously crafted 35–40 dresses spanning from the 1700s to 1954. Among them, Mary Bufton's iconic wedding gown, gracing the cover of Nancy's forthcoming book, awaits to mesmerize audiences. Each dress, meticulously researched and recreated by Nancy (and her dedicated students under Nancy’s direction), serves as a testament to the enduring allure of fashion history.
Join us for this unforgettable journey through time, where Nancy's passion and expertise shine in every intricate detail of "Dressed in White."
Exhibition is FREE and open to the public! Exhibition times are 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday through Friday in the Tippetts & Eccles Galleries, March 18–27.

The Science Behind the Art of Conversation — Blue Plate Research
Lecture/Readings
Conversations are integral to our daily lives, serving as the foundation for building and maintaining relationships, conducting work, raising children, accessing services, engaging in our communities, and more. While the act of having a conversation may seem straightforward, it involves a complex coordination of behaviors, requiring communication partners to make constant adaptations to understand one another and ensure a smooth interaction.
At the upcoming Blue Plate Research event, titled 'The Science Behind the Art of Conversation,' Dr. Stephanie Borrie will explore how successful conversations emerge from the collaborative efforts of those engaged in them. She will delve into her research into the impact of neurological conditions such as stroke, brain injury, and Parkinson’s disease on conversation, and will discuss strategies for how communication partners can work together to improve conversational success.
We invite you to join this insightful session on Thursday, March 21st, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Gallivan Hall in downtown Salt Lake City. It's an opportunity to understand the science that informs the subtleties of our daily interactions and to enhance the way we connect with others.
Utah Women in Society – A Living Room Conversation
Panel Discussion/Presentation
The Utah Women & Leadership Project is partnering with Living Room Conversations for a unique 75-minute offering to Utahns as part of our celebration of Women’s History Month. Dr. Susan R. Madsen (Founding Director of the Utah Women & Leadership Project at Utah State University) will co-moderate this experience with Becca Kearl (Executive Director of Living Room Conversations) to provide space for anyone who joins to meet in small group to discuss women in the Utah society.
This experience is in a Zoom “meeting” format and there will be limited spots available. Living Room Conversations offer a simple, sociable and structured way to practice communicating across differences while building understanding and relationships. Zoom breakout rooms will be 4-6 people from much of the forum. This is an experience where you can be listened to and heard by others on this topic. Rather than debating or convincing others, you will take turns talking, sharing, learning, and being curious.
