UST The Tempest

Magic, secret identities, and conflict abound inn William Shakespeare's "The Tempest". Prospero uses magic to conjure a storm and torment the survivors of a shipwreck, including the King of Naples and Prospero’s treacherous brother, Antonio. Prospero’s slave, Caliban, plots to rid himself of his master, but is thwarted by Prospero’s spirit-servant Ariel. The King’s young son Ferdinand, thought to be dead, falls in love with Prospero’s daughter Miranda. Come experience the intrigue, the magic, and see for yourself how all will resolve.

String Chamber Music - Spring Recital

This concert showcases the students of the USU String and Piano Programs. Students dedicate their semester to the intensive study of masterpieces from the chamber music repertoire under the guidance of the Fry Street Quartet and the USU Piano Faculty. USU Symphony Orchestra: A Farewell Concert

AI and the Arts: What will your future be like?
What does the rise of AI mean for the arts – and for your future in the arts? Our panel of experts address enhancing creativity, accessibility and efficiency to concerns over job displacement, loss of authenticity and the use of biased data sets in AI training. What do you need to know about the ethical and legal issues surrounding AI? Will AI limit artistic insight and skill development, or will it become a valued tool for inspiration and greater understanding in the arts?
Symphonic Band

Concerts are part of the band large ensemble curriculum. As capstone events, they typically occur twice per semester. Students are required to participate in these events as a large part of their grades, and these concerts are the culmination of several weeks of classroom rehearsals. All concerts are associated with one or more of the band ensembles: MUSC 4700 Wind Orchestra MUSC 3795 Wind Symphony MUSC 3790 Symphonic Band MUSC 3785 Marching Band.

Wind Orchestra

The Utah State University Wind Orchestra, conducted by Director of Bands Thomas P. Rohrer, will hold its annual spring concert on April 19, 2024, at 7:30 PM in Daines Concert Hall on the USU campus. The event, honoring Dr. Jon Gudmundson’s 21 years as Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies, will feature special alumni guests and tributes to his contributions. The concert will include a mix of classical and jazz pieces, showcasing Dr. Gudmundson’s diverse expertise and lasting impact on the university’s music department. Attendees can also enjoy comments from faculty and alumni, as well as a saxophone solo by one of Dr. Gudmundson’s former students.
