Día de Los Muertos Ofrenda

Día de Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a celebration of life and death that connects family members and allows many to grow closer with their loved ones. NEHMA highlights this tradition by creating a large ofrenda (offering table) in the lobby of the museum. On display are calaveras (decorated skulls), photos, food, candles, and marigold flowers to represent different kinds of ofrendas. People are welcome to dedicate a small portion of that ofrenda to someone they lost by writing their name on the ofrenda wall. Come visit the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art and our Día de Los Muertos ofrenda!

Music Scholars Series Lecture: Mark Clague, Professor of Musicology, University of Michigan

Scholar of American Music, Dr. Mark Clague will present a fascinating lecture on "The Star Spangled Banner," exploring the context of its creation and the history of its reception as the National Anthem of the United States.

What is "our music"? As an institution in the intermountain West, USU is located in a place associated with many different kinds of music. the Decisions we make about which of these we foreground have profound implications. What do our students deserve to learn? Which faculty have the responsibility-or the right-to teach each repertoire? And how, as a university, do we define the collective "us" we seek to serve?

USU Opera Presents: Anastasia

Inspired by the animated film, Anastasia adapts the legend of the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, who was rumored to have escaped the execution of her family at the twilight of the Russian Empire. Anya, an amnesiac orphan trying to discover her past, teams up with two con men and travels to Paris to hopefully find her home, love, and family.

This Tony-nominated musical is a brilliant modern-day fairy tale about discovering “who you are and defining who you’re meant to be.” Guest directed by Stefan Espinosa, Anastasia will be performed by USU voice and orchestra students in the Morgan Theatre in the Chase Fine Arts Center.

Join the AFC and the USU Symphony Orchestra for this annual concert celebrating the resolute spirit of our U.S. military service men and women. This patriotic musical tribute honors Armed Forces Veterans’ courage, determination, and selfless service and pays tribute to all who have sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy. We are pleased to offer this free concert to the community and recommend getting tickets extra early.
