USU Farmers Market

The USU Farmers Market was launched in 2017 with support from the Student Sustainability grant program. The fall market features live local musicians in addition to local businesses and student organizations. One of the student benefits is the Double Your Bucks program which allows students to double their money in dollar increments up to $6.00. The tokens may only be used in the Market towards produce and select food items.

Olsen Lecture Series: Nanoscience Pioneer Gregory Hartland

Lecture/Readings

University of Notre Dame chemist Gregory Hartland is pioneering use of optics to examine properties of single plasmonic nanostructures. His research includes development of novel techniques to perform time-resolved and steady state spectroscopy experiments on single particles. He will present “Ultrafast Spectroscopy of Single Plasmonic Nanostructures" as featured speaker for the Utah State University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry’s 2024 Richard Olsen Lecture series. All are welcome to his talk at 4 p.m. Oct. 9, in the Eccles Science Learning Center, Room ESLC 046, on the Logan campus. Hartland is a Notre Dame Collegiate Professor and director of graduate studies in Notre Dame’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He served as senior editor of the American Chemical Society’s Journal of Physical Chemistry, and was recently named deputy editor of the society’s Journal of Physical Chemistry C. Harland is an ACS Fellow, a Royal Society of Chemistry Fellow and an American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow. The Olsen Lecture Series was established by in 2006 by the late USU Emeritus Professor Richard Olsen and his wife, LiVina Hymas Olsen.

Communitas Lecture Series Janina Myronova

Arts/Entertainment

Janina Myronova and her vibrant, rosy-cheeked clay sculptures are traveling the globe, capturing unique characters and sharing their stories along the way. Originally from Ukraine and now residing in Poland, Myronova has embraced the artist-in-residence lifestyle since completing her PhD in 2019. Her "chubby, anatomically misshapen" creations, as she describes them, have been crafted by hand in countries such as Taiwan, South Korea, Denmark, France, Turkey, China, and Poland over the past three years, with each culture influencing her work and the narratives she seeks to convey.

2024 Arrington Mormon HIstory Lecture: Latter-Day Saint Women and the Quiet Erosion of Certainty

When the first Next Mormons Survey was conducted in 2016, a key finding was that Latter-day Saint women in the U.S. were, on average, more certain in their beliefs about God, Jesus, and the church than LDS men. October 12 (at NEHMA): Voyager in Space In 1951, while walking among the redwood groves in Northern California, Gordon Onslow Ford had the sudden insight that the line, the circle, and the dot were at the root of all art. Through study of calligraphy with Zen master Hodo Tobase, the artist also learned that they were the fastest lines one could make. Join us in creating artwork inspired by Voyager in Space by Gordon Onslow-Ford.

Legacy of Val Day of Service: Fruit Picking with USU Harvest Rescue
