USU Rock-n-Fossil Day

Special Event

Calling Rockhounds of All Ages! USU Department of Geosciences hosts its annual Rock-n-Fossil Day, featuring a gathering learning fun about rocks, fossils and minerals. View demonstrations, learn about varied rocks and fossils, enjoy hands-on geological activities, tour the USU Geology Museum, dig for fossils, and bring your own "mystery" rocks and fossils for identification by USU geologists. Admission is free. The event is held in the historic Geology Building, located on the northeast corner of the USU Quad in Logan. Ride the zero-fare Cache Valley Transit District bus to campus, including the convenient Green Loop Route bus, which has a stop at the southeast corner of the USU Quad.

Experts from the Utah Historical Society will help Carbon County seniors, adults, and young adults preserve and share their photos, letters, recipes, and other historical materials that represent their heritage. Participants will learn about their items, how to preserve them, and create digital copies that will become part of The Peoples of Utah Revisited online collection. Snacks provided.

Full Moon Snowshoe Hike

Recreation

Come spend an evening snowshoeing under the glow of a full moon. Be sure to dress warm for the cooler temperatures after dark. No snowshoeing experience is necessary, beginners are most welcome. Participants must be prepared for moderate physical activity in a winter environment. Trip cost includes snowshoe rental and transportation. Pre-Trip Meeting: NA (You will be contacted by OP trip leaders 24 hours before the hike with trip details and logistics) All participants must have health insurance and abide by OP and University Policies.
