Aaron is an artist/printmaker who is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona. Below is a description of his work. My work has evolved into a blanket description of the apocalyptic world in which we live. Police brutality, racial discrimination, religious extremism, persecution of the LGBT communities, economic unrest, global warming, species extinction, habitat loss, holy wars, power trips and ego mania are the extremes my work addresses. Earth is a disaster area, a gigantic crime scene. My work takes on the characteristics of this global chaos. Six finalists have been selected to perform for an audience and a panel of guest judges. The judges will select one winner and an audience favorite will be chosen. Winner receive scholarship funds to help further their education at USU at the undergraduate or graduate level. Come support these fantastic singers and vote for your favorite!

Every Brilliant Thing
Special Event
A touring company performing a play with a life-affirming message so powerful that the Utah Shakespeare Festival is offering it to every public high school and university in the state of Utah, in an effort to help stem the tide of youth suicide, is coming to USU. Every Brilliant Thing, by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe, is an ingenious, heartfelt, highly theatrical one-person show wherein the narrator interacts directly with the audience.
Audience members learn that when the narrator was a child, his or her mother suffered from depression and attempted suicide. The narrator decided to make a list of all the things that make life worth living to persuade her to live, starting with #1, “ice cream,” and continuing to one million. This inventive, beautifully rendered theatrical experience is unique in the way the audience becomes a support community for the narrator and gains rich insights along the way about the things hiding in plain sight that make life worthwhile and wonderful.
The production at USU is hosted as part of Caine College of the Arts Week activities.

A Celebration of Women Piano Composers: Past & Present

This unique piano concert will feature works written by women from 1800 through present, performed by Elzbieta Bilicka, Emily Ezola, Mayumi Matzen, Kevin Olson and new piano faculty member Cahill Smith. The evening will include the world premier of a piece for two-pianos written by Wynn-Anne Rossi, music that was commissioned especially for the USU Year of the Woman. Wynn-Anne Rossi herself will be at the concert to introduce the piece and talk to the audience about her creative process.
Selected music will be illustrated by artist Chuck Landvatter who will be positioned on stage with the musicians. His artwork will be projected for the audience to see come to life in real time as the music is being performed. If that isn’t exciting enough, sculptors Ryoichi Suzuki and Myles Howell will also be presenting new pieces created especially for this concert experience. The sculptures will be positioned on stage and the audience will have a chance to see the pieces up close during the sculpture walk at intermission. Illustrations and sculptures will be auctioned following the concert and a portion of the proceeds will go towards piano area scholarships.
