V.A.R. Training
Meeting | Year of the Woman
the Peer Mental Health Support Network will be hosting a Mental Health Training session on Monday, March 14th at 2:30 -4:00 pm. All staff and faculty are welcome to attend! We will be training on V-A-R which means to Validate-Appreciate-Refer. They provide a guide to listening and responding in a helpful way to difficult situations. Movie Night: The Batman

To kick off our Mental Health Awareness week, on Monday the San Juan theater has been rented out to watch the new movie, The Batman. Please bring your student ID, so that you get into the movie free of charge. Additionally, we ask that you be in your seats early to get the complimentary popcorn.
Semicolon Day
Fair/Festival
Semicolon Day: A semicolon – “where an author could have ended a sentence but didn’t. That author is you and the sentence, your life” by Lakey. The Semicolon Project is for anyone who has struggled with disabilities, mental illness or even knowing someone that have these issue. The Peer Mental Health Support Network will be hosting a table event in the Quad to grab a semicolon pin to support suicide prevention awareness.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, the Blanding Campus Sexual Violence Prevention Team will be hosting a tabling event from 12-2 in the Quad to share local and national hotlines. Come learn about the resources available to you!
Suicide Prevention Hike: Out of the Darkness
Special Event
There will be a suicide prevention hike that will be located behind the campus. The Out of The Darkness theme for this event focuses on giving people the courage to open up about their own connections to the cause, and a platform to creat a culture that’s smarter about mental health. Friends, family, members, neighbors, and coworkers walk side-by-side, supporting each other and in memory of those we’ve lost.
Tohi Lab Talking Circle
Conference/Seminar
The Tohi Lab, housed in USU's Combined Clinical/Counseling Psychology Program at Logan, is an Indigenous-centered mental health lab that focuses on the physical, spiritual, and psychological health of ethnically and racially underrepresented groups. We incorporate traditional and culturally appropriate interventions/research methods, like the traditional medicine wheel, to decolonize psychology. Members who will lead the talking circle include Racheal Killgore and Jennifer Yazzie (Navajo Nation), and Devon Isaacs (Cherokee Nation).

Effective Workplace Relationships
Workshop/Training
The Office of Equity’s “Effective Workplace Relationships” presentation is an interactive program that supports faculty and staff in developing and maintaining effective workplace relationships. Specific emphasis is placed on how boundary setting, conflict management, and effective workplace relationships can minimize sexual misconduct and discriminatory behaviors. The program includes large and small group discussions and personal reflection opportunities. A virtual option for this training will also be offered via Zoom. Upstanding Training
Workshop/Training
“Upstanding” is a bystander intervention approach for the prevention of a variety of problematic situations. The purpose of the Upstanding training is to prepare members of the USU campus community with the skills and knowledge needed to safely and effectively intervene when they sense a threat or potential harm to another. Threats could include sexual misconduct, drug and alcohol misuse, bias and discrimination, depression or suicidal thoughts, and interpersonal violence. Upstanding is an interactive, audience-led program that incorporates large and small group discussions, videos, and practice scenarios. The Upstanding program will empower participants to become upstanders by teaching them about bystander intervention practices and campus and community support resources. Dating Violence in the Media - Let's Talk About It!
Special Event
Are the relationships depicted in popular TV shows and movies representing healthy behaviors? Join the Blanding Campus Sexual Violence Prevention Team and Domestic Violence Advocates from Utah Navajo Health Systems to think critically about how popular media reinforces dating violence and discuss the ways that toxic relationships have been romanticized.
