Science Unwrapped - Electric Avenues

Panel Discussion/Presentation | Science Unwrapped

Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to Science Unwrapped, the public outreach program of USU's College of Science. Featured speaker is USU electrical engineer Regan Zane, who presents "Electric Avenues: Advancing Sustainability through Powered Infrastructure for Roadway Electrification (ASPIRE)" at 7 pm in the Emert Auditorium (ESLC 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center on USU's Logan campus. Admission is free. Dr. Zane's talk will be recorded and posted on Science Unwrapped's website following the talk: www.usu.edu/science/unwrapped

Refreshments and hands-on STEM learning activities in the ESLC atrium, led by USU student volunteers and community groups, follow the presentation.

Career Exploration for Girls and Women: Law & Nonprofit

The Utah Women & Leadership Project invites you to join us for our fourth Spring Women’s Leadership Forum.

This final Women’s Leadership Forum of the semester is geared toward introducing career opportunities to Utah girls and women in two fields: law and nonprofit. It is specifically designed for young women in middle- and high school, as well as college students and women returning to college later in life. This Zoom webinar will consist of two panels consisting of professional women who have focused their careers in these areas in various ways. Judges, lawyers, and nonprofit executives will share their experiences and insights about choosing to work within their chosen fields.

By understanding different career options with more clarity, we hope you can make more informed decisions about college majors and your potential professional contributions in the future. Join us as we discuss what you can do now to set your course—whether full-time, part-time, or volunteer work—for a possible career in the legal and nonprofit professions.

Prior to Logan Growth Advisors, Bob earned a BS in finance from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management. Bob has also taught classes at both The Marriott School of Business and here at Huntsman.

CHaSS visit with Kevin White from Visa

Logan native Kevin White earned his bachelor's degree from Utah State University in 1991, having double majored in JCOM and Spanish. Since then he has had a wide-ranging career with a variety of tech companies in Salt Lake and Utah Counties and currently serves as Director of Global Sales Development at Visa International in Lehi. Visa provides small companies around the world with a variety of services (including but not limited to payments). Their business is booming, and Kevin is very interested in raising awareness of opportunities for our students at his company. Kevin understands that many of our students would see a job ad at a financial institution and assume that it’s not for them – this assumption would be FALSE. Join us for an information session with Kevin for students, faculty, and staff this Friday, April 8th, at 1:00PM in the David B. Haight Alumni Center (food and beverages provided). While this will be a low-key opportunity to socialize and learn more about career options for CHaSS students, it could open the doors to real possibilities for graduates.

Working at the Intersections: Critical Race Scholarship and Pedagogy Today

Join USU's Center for Intersectional Gender Studies & Research and the USU Libraries for a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Christy Glass. This is the final event in the "Intersections on Inclusion" series for the 2021-2022 academic year. Recent conversations in Utah and nationwide highlight the debate and division surrounding Critical Race Theory (CRT) in education. The purpose of this event is to celebrate the ways CRT informs and deepens our teaching, research, and community engagement in higher education. Panelists will explore how they use CRT in the classroom and in their research, and discuss how doing so advances USU’s mission of “cultivating diversity of thought and culture" and “serving the public through learning, discovery, and engagement.” Join us for an engaging—and celebratory—discussion that will reenergize our shared purpose in this work and build connections across our university. Lunch & Learn - Optimize Your HSA: Strategies for Contributing, Growing, and Withdrawing Your HSA Funds

Last year, Steven Clark compared his experience with high deductible health plans with traditional health plans. While Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) were introduced, there wasn't enough time to share his best kept secrets of HSAs. This year Steven will share strategies to optimize your HSA at every step of the cycle (contributing, growing, and withdrawing HSA funds.) Our goal is that everyone will leave the presentation with something new to consider about high deductible plans and ideas to optimize their HSA. This event will be held in person in Library 154, and virtually via Zoom. Attendance and participation in this event qualify as a required activity for the Be Well Rewards program.
