Blood Battle with the American Red Cross

Special Event

There is an ongoing blood shortage in the United States right now, due to natural disasters and the pandemic. Utah State and Weber State are going head to head in the name of addressing the blood shortage during Blood Battle 2022. Each school has a goal of collecting 500 units of blood! American Red Cross teams will be on hand from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day for four days so that donors can step up and help community members they may never meet. Appointments are recommended this year, but walk-ins will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis. Go to redcrossblood.org and type ZIP code 84322 or the sponsor code BLEEDBLUE in the search box in the top right corner to make an appointment. Many volunteers are also needed to staff the check-in and snack tables. Sign up for a shift or two by logging into USU's service database, found at usu.givepulse.com.

Lifeguard Course

Workshop/Training

This 20-hour course is designed to provide lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. The course content and activities will prepare participants to make appropriate decisions about the care to provide in an aquatic emergency and a medical emergency. The class lasts from Tuesday, Sep. 6 to Friday, Sep. 9 and will be held every day from 4-8pm. Register at recportal.usu.edu

CARE Office Open House

The CARE office works to help students facing challenges with: Accessing healthcare Connecting with a mental health provider and other mental health resources Financial concerns Addressing difficulties with access to food or other necessities and Identifying and connecting with academic supports, such as academic accommodations They will be hosting their open house on September 7th from 2-4:30pm. CPR/AED & First Aid for Professional Rescuers

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuers and First Aid course is to instruct those who have a duty to act (professional rescuers) in the knowledge and skills needed to respond appropriately to first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies. Alumni Mountain Biking

Grab your bike and come spend a few hours pedaling one of the many fantastic mountain biking trails in the Logan area. We will meet at the OP shop, load up our bikes and drive to the Providence trailhead and ride. Intermediate to advanced riding level is recommended. Participants must be in good physical condition and prepared for strenuous physical activity. Trip cost includes transportation to and from the trailhead and student leadership. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bike (in working condition). If you need a bike, an OP rental is available at a discounted rate.
