Moab Paddling & camping
Recreation
We are heading down south near Moab to spend the weekend playing on the Colorado River and hiking in the Moab area. We will enjoy our nights camped in beautiful red rock country while we paddle the rapids of the Moab Daily section and hike along beautiful red rock trails. Participants must be able to swim and prepared for fun on the water. Trip cost includes: food, transportation, campground fees, river equipment, and student leadership.

Body Liberation Book Club

Join us for our second Body Liberation Book Club! This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation. The Body Is Not an Apology offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by violent systems of oppression. World-renowned activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength. Free and open to students, faculty, and staff! We will be meeting three times this fall semester: October 4th, October 18th, and November 1st. We will be handing out the book* and reading schedule all day on September 21st in TSC 313. *Books are available for free to the first 20 registrants, so be sure to register now using the link below.
Conducting an Inclusive Search: Best Practices

The Office of Equity’s “Conducting an Inclusive Search: Best Practices” training will help hiring and search committees understand the ways in which they can limit bias during the hiring and search processes. It is an interactive training that focuses on the various aspects of the processes (from establishing group operating procedures to evaluating candidate interviews). It can be tailored to the needs of the individual hiring or search committee.

MANNRs and JEDI Volunteer Day @ Stokes Nature Center

Join us for a joint volunteer event between MANNRs and JEDI! Meet at 9:50 in the lot just north of the NR building and we will carpool to Stokes. We will be doing some trail cleaning and maintenance so bring work gloves if you have them and sturdy/warm, weather appropriate clothing. We will provide light snacks!

Trans/Nonbinary Allies on Campus aims to increase awareness and understanding of our trans/nonbinary community and further understand specific trans/nonbinary issues while training participants to stand with, and advocate for trans/nonbinary individuals. Participants will gain a basic understanding of sex, sexuality, and gender and how these concepts perpetuate microaggressions, discrimination policies, and daily biases. Prepare to dispel some common myths, laugh, and leave with the understanding that there is much work to be done in our community and you are part of the solution.
