Body Liberation Book Club

Workshop/Training

Join us for our second Body Liberation Book Club! This group is an opportunity to discuss and support one another within the complicated and varied issues surrounding body liberation. The Body Is Not an Apology offers radical self-love as the balm to heal the wounds inflicted by violent systems of oppression. World-renowned activist and poet Sonya Renee Taylor invites us to reconnect with the radical origins of our minds and bodies and celebrate our collective, enduring strength. Free and open to students, faculty, and staff! We will be meeting three times this fall semester: October 4th, October 18th, and November 1st. We will be handing out the book* and reading schedule all day on September 21st in TSC 313. *Books are available for free to the first 20 registrants, so be sure to register now using the link below.

Conducting an Inclusive Search: Best Practices

Workshop/Training

The Office of Equity’s “Conducting an Inclusive Search: Best Practices” training will help hiring and search committees understand the ways in which they can limit bias during the hiring and search processes. It is an interactive training that focuses on the various aspects of the processes (from establishing group operating procedures to evaluating candidate interviews). It can be tailored to the needs of the individual hiring or search committee.

Utah Women Leading Government 1st Annual Conference

The Utah Women Leading Government (UTWLG), a non-profit organization dedicated to elevating women's roles and success within the public sector, is thrilled to announce the 1st Annual Utah Women Leading Government Conference! We invite government staff at all levels, elected officials, individuals with an interest in government, and those working alongside government entities to join us at this exciting event. The conference will be held on November 8, 2023 from 9am to 3pm at the Lehi City Broadbent Community Room. We will hear about the Utah Women Leadership Project's A Bolder Way Forward Initiative, have professional headshots taken during lunch and, attend sessions on personal growth, leadership and mentorship, and professional skills.

Why Intermountain Matters

Dr. Farina King (Diné) from the University of Oklahoma, will talk about the history of the Intermountain Indian School, one of the largest federal boarding schools for Native Americans that existed in Brigham City from 1950-1984. Dr. King will discuss why the legacy of Intermountain matters and should be honored, remembered, and recognized today.

Trans Allies on Campus

Workshop/Training

Trans/Nonbinary Allies on Campus aims to increase awareness and understanding of our trans/nonbinary community and further understand specific trans/nonbinary issues while training participants to stand with, and advocate for trans/nonbinary individuals. Participants will gain a basic understanding of sex, sexuality, and gender and how these concepts perpetuate microaggressions, discrimination policies, and daily biases. Prepare to dispel some common myths, laugh, and leave with the understanding that there is much work to be done in our community and you are part of the solution.
