Snowshoe Hike

Let's go walk on some snow! Come spend a few hours snowshoeing up Logan Canyon. We will explore one of the many winter trails in our big campus backyard. Trip cost includes snowshoe rental, transportation and student leadership.

How to Lift Workshop

New to the gym? Need a refresher? This is a workshop for students who are trying to figure out the gym. We will have certified trainers go over how to adjust racks by height. How to correctly perform the most popular lifts and if you have any questions this is the time to ask. No judgment, all are welcome if you feel you need to know a little more information. Campout in the Fieldhouse

Want early entry to the Men's Basketball vs Fresno State game? Here's your chance! Come camp in the USU Fieldhouse starting at 8 pm on Friday, January 19. No tents are allowed, so just bring your blankets and pillows. The evening will include Wild Bill as a guest speaker, trivia and poster making contest, a movie, and yard games. At some point in the night, attendees will be given a wristband for early entry into the game!

Full Moon Snowshoe Hike

Come spend an evening snowshoeing under the glow of a full moon. Be sure to dress warm for the cooler temperatures after dark. No snowshoeing experience is necessary, beginners are most welcome. Participants must be prepared for moderate physical activity in a winter environment. Trip cost includes snowshoe rental and transportation. Pre-Trip Meeting: NA (You will be contacted by OP trip leaders 24 hours before the hike with trip details and logistics) All participants must have health insurance and abide by OP and University Policies.

Prior backcountry experience is recommended and participants must be expert/advanced riders (able to comfortably ride black diamond western resort terrain). Participants must also be in good physical condition and prepared for strenuous uphill hiking. Winter backcountry travel equipment(Alpine Touring, Telemark, Splitboard) is required and available to rent from the OP for a nominal fee. NO SNOWSHOES. All participants must abide by OP and University Policies.

Come sweat and release some stress or have just fun with Sweat Day on January 27th from 9am to noon! What is Sweat Day? It's four hours of various group fitness classes where you get to pick and choose what you want to take! A full schedule will be provided as the event date approaches. The event is free if you have a group fitness pass or just $5 without for the whole event. Registration gets you a free t-shirt, snacks, and drinks! AIARE II Avalanche Course
Recreation
The AIARE 2 is a three-day/24-hour course that provides backcountry travelers an opportunity to advance their decision making skills in more complicated situations such as being a leader within a small travel group, traveling in more complicated terrain, and/or developing a travel plan where online resources are scarce. The AIARE 2 builds on the introductory avalanche hazard management model introduced in the AIARE 1 and adds to it the evaluation of critical hazard assessment factors. Students will describe and discuss weather, snowpack and avalanche processes, and identify how these processes relate to observations and travel within avalanche terrain. Skis or splitboard with skins and touring bindings are required for this course. SNOWSHOES ARE NOT ALLOWED! Additionally, an avalanche beacon, shovel, and probe are required. These items are available to rent from the USU Outdoor Programs. Make sure to reserve equipment in advance as quantities are limited. Participants must be comfortable traveling in blue to black resort terrain on skis or splitboard. This course is not recommended for beginners.
