CIDI Workshop - Creating Usable, Accessible Courses

Learn quick and easy practical tips to make sure your content more usable and easy to learn for the students in your course. In this workshop we will go over how to 1) get rid of extra content and simplify navigation, 2) get rid of broken links and make sure your content is published, 3) embed and caption your videos to make them more usable for everyone, and 4) provide content in user-friendly formats that work well on mobile devices.

Learn to actively switch from camera to desktop (or both) as you record your lecture from your home or office. Incorporate motion graphics and more without a lot of post-production editing. This workshop focuses on using Open Broadcaster Software (OBS Studio), a free program for video recording and live streaming, create more professional lectures.
Front & Center Webinar "General Education at Utah State University
Workshop/Training
Utah State University is offering the General Education Certificate of Completion (GECC) to all Utah State University students who earn the certificate. This session will describe the purpose of the GECC, the processes that will award the certificate, and existing general education recognition that will sunset (Letter of Completion, Interstate Passport). In addition, presenters will inform the campus community of changes to General Education courses for the 2024-2025 catalog. Finally, a short training on updates to the General Education Petition for academic advisors will be provided.
Supporting Student Mental Health: Balancing Flexibility and Accountability
Panel Discussion/Presentation
This presentation is designed to help faculty support students dealing with academic difficulties resulting from mental health issues. In this presentation, faculty will get guidance from a licensed psychologist on how to best respond to a student who discloses mental health issues, be they mild or severe. And then advice will be given on how to balance flexibility for these students with accountability when it comes to their academic work in your courses. This event will be held in person (HH380) and via Zoom.

The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) program at USU is a training program that prepares college students to become officers in the United States Air Force and Space Force. Students work with Detachment 860 to qualify for a commission as an officer in the Air Force or Space Force, while simultaneously completing their university undergraduate degree requirements. If the answer to either of these questions is yes, join us for this Sparkshop. In this Sparkshop we will explore the revised version of Bloom’s Taxonomy (2001) and investigate how it can guide you in crafting deeper discussion questions. Spoiler alert, the authors of the revised taxonomy have done much of the work for us already.
