Tanner Symposium Women and America's Vietnam War

The United States formally ended its participation in what it called the Vietnam War fifty years ago. Many are still living with the legacies of this conflict, and one of the populations deeply affected by this devastating event were the women of many backgrounds who served militarily, had loved ones go to war, tended to those affected by their direct participation in the war, protested its impact, or otherwise attempted to make sense of the war’s complex experiences and legacies. In connection with USU’s ongoing Bringing War Home Project that is collecting objects and stories from veterans and military families about modern war, we invite students, scholars, creative artists, and community members to share perspectives, especially from local history, in order to open conversations about the experiences of women who participated on multiple sides and sites of this conflict. We encourage interdisciplinary submissions from history, anthropology, material culture studies, archival studies, communications, literature, and the creative arts. This will be a live event, but there will be options for virtual participation for those who cannot attend in person.
WATS Spring Seminar | A tale of two salinities and their implications for resource management

Christine Rumsey is a hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Utah Water Science Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Since joining the USGS in 2014, she has worked on projects in the Upper Colorado River Basin related to groundwater-discharge to streams, salinity transport, trends assessments, and trend attribution. Her other main area of focus is Great Salt Lake, where she’s involved with building understanding of water quality, nutrient cycling, and changing salinity.

AIS International Conference

4th Annual Indigenous Knowledge Symposium

Our speakers are Rose Bear Don't Walk, a doctoral student in Indigenous & Rural Health, Montana State University and Dr. Valarie Blue Bird Jernigan, Director of the Center for Indigenous Health and Policy, Oklahoma State University. Student Professionalism Awareness Conference

The annual Student Professionalism Awareness Conference (SPAC) is an opportunity for motivated students to connect with industry. Representatives from STEM fields will attend to mingle with students and present their work. The conference's theme is "Sparking the Fire of Creativity" to introduce STEM students to the higher level of thinking required once they start working in their field.

Engineering students have a toolbox full of equations, theories, and processes to help them solve problems. The challenge for new engineers is selecting the right tool for the job. This event will introduce you to the mindset required to connect your engineering coursework to real-world problems. Work a problem from customer need to prototype together with Professor Zac Humes. All engineering majors are welcome and encouraged to attend. Dinner will be provided.
