Alumni Mountain Biking

Recreation

Grab your bike and come spend a few hours pedaling one of the many fantastic mountain biking trails in the Logan area. We will meet at the OP shop, load up our bikes and drive to the Providence trailhead, and ride. Intermediate to advanced riding level is recommended. Participants must be in good physical condition and prepared for strenuous physical activity. Trip cost includes transportation to and from the trailhead and student leadership. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mountain bike (in working condition). If you need a bike, an OP rental is available at a discounted rate. All participants must have health insurance and abide by OP and University Policies.

The Local Artist exhibition on the Tippetts side of the gallery showcases work created by artists from Box Elder, Cache, Rich, and Weber counties. This show includes pieces created in various mediums- photography, glass, ceramic, printmaking, painting, and mix-media. The Eccles side of the gallery highlights works from the USU Ceramic archives. Former visiting artists and MFA students created these pieces. Both exhibitions will be on display until July 29. The gallery is open Tuesday- Friday from 10 am - 6 pm & Saturdays from 10 am - 4 pm, reception, Friday, June 24, 5–7 pm.

4th Annual Vosco Call Spotlight Concert

This summer's theme is Movie Musicals! Join us on July 19 or 26 as we feature popular songs from the golden age of American musicals to present-day blockbusters. This concert, named after the Lyric Rep's founder and first artistic director, was created to celebrate our patrons, feature the talents of our company, and raise awareness and money for the Lyric Repertory Endowment Fund. This family-friendly event is not to be missed.

interACT: FreeMan in Paris

For the second year, Lyric Rep presents interACT, featuring playwright Herb Newsome’s FreeMan in Paris, a drama about a jazz trumpeter named Carter Freeman. After each performance of the show, Herb will speak with audience members about his experience as a playwright performing his own work.

Faculty & Staff Desolation Canyon Rafting Trip

Recreation

Come spend several days rafting the beautiful Desolation and Gray Canyons on the Green River. We will pack everything we need in rafts and leave civilization behind to travel downstream through the Desolation wilderness. We will enjoy sandy beaches, historical sites and numerous rapids that fill this 84 mile section of river. Participants must be able to swim, prepared for moderate physical activity and six days in a hot desert wilderness environment with temperatures over 100° F (38°C). Trip cost includes food, permit, transportation, rafting equipment, and student leadership.

Into the Breeches!

Movie Equivalent Rating: PG-13 Set during World War II, the Oberon Play House's director and leading men are off at war. Determined to press on, the director's wife sets out to produce an all-female version of Shakespeare's Henry V, assembling an increasingly unexpected team united in desire, if not actual theatre experience. Together they deliver a delightful celebration of collaboration and persistence when the show must go on! A moving comedy about the singular way art and community reveal our boldest selves even in the darkest times.

Disney's Freaky Friday, the Musical

When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again. FREAKY FRIDAY, a musical based on the celebrated novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, is a heartfelt, comedic, and unexpectedly emotional update on an American classic. By spending a day in each other's shoes, Katherine and Ellie come to appreciate one another's struggles, learn self-acceptance, and realize the immeasurable love and mutual respect that bond a mother and daughter.

Undergraduate Research Ice Cream Social

We cordially invite any and all students, faculty, and staff interested in supporting undergraduate research to join us on Friday, July 22 from noon to 1:30pm for free Aggie Ice Cream and the chance to meet more of the research community.    Join us in the patio area between the Life Sciences and the Biology & Natural Resources buildings for ice cream cups, some swag and great company. This is a great opportunity to socialize and network with students working on research on campus for the summer and to get to know more about the kinds of programs we have to support research involvement. Feel free to invite other faculty, grad students, and research staff to this event as well—the more, the merrier!

Come pick fruits and vegetables with the Cache Community Gleaning Team! The Gleaning Team goes to properties in our community with excess produce that would have gone to waste, and harvests it to go to food security programs in the valley (i.e. The SNAC, Cache Community Food Pantry).

Come pick fruits and vegetables with the Cache Community Gleaning team and help reduce food waste while supporting food security in your community! Our volunteers help harvest the excess produce from properties in our community that would have gone to waste. That produce is then given to the SNAC pantry on campus and distributed to other food security programs around the valley.
Locations vary each session; participant will be informed of location once they have signed up for specific session.

Set amid the leafy greens of Quail Valley Country Club, A FOX ON THE FAIRWAY unfolds on the day Quail Valley faces its oldest rival, nearby Crouching Squirrel Golf and Racquet Club, for the golf tournament of the decade. Battle lines are dawn when the two clubs, like Greece and Troy, assemble their bravest heroes and play on to the final, madcap putt on an 18th hole that is the stuff of legend. A tribute to the English farces of the 1930s and '40s, A FOX ON THE FAIRWAY takes audiences on a riotous ride that recalls the classics of the Marx Brothers.

Troy was excluded from the major leagues during his prime, and his bitterness takes its toll on his relationships with his wife and his son, who now wants his own chance to play ball. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, Fences is the sixth play in August Wilson's ten-part "Pittsburgh Cycle."
