Come join us for a day of skiing/snowboarding at Powder Mountain resort. We will meet up at Outdoor Programs, load up our ski/snowboard gear, and head to Powder Mountain to burn some turns. Huntsman School Scholarships Application Deadline

scholarships are awarded based on a student’s academic performance
(GPA) and/or financial need. The Huntsman School Scholarships Application for scholarships for the school year 2022-23, is due by 5:00 pm on Monday, January 31, 2022. Apply now.
"Data Ninja" Scholarship Application Due
Date/Deadline
The "Data Ninja" Scholarship was created to honor Julie Cook, a former MIS student.
Applicants must be a undergraduate major in the Data Analytics and Information Systems Department, junior or senior, GPA between 2.7 and 3.7, and demonstrated financial need.
Applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm on Monday, January 31, 2022. Students can apply at https://www.usu.edu/scholarships/application and click on "Apply Here." Search for "Data Ninja" after logging in, and the Scholarship Record will be displayed. Click on "View."
Students who qualify will then be able to apply for the scholarship and will need to submit additional information.

Every Body Rocks: Nutrition Series

February is National Eating Disorder Awareness month and to bring more awareness to this issue, we will be teaching Every Body Rocks classes (from the curriculum designed by Brooke Parker, RD). This is a series of classes promoting Intuitive Eating and positive body image. There will be 4 classes taught by senior USU Dietetic students. It is recommended that you come to all four classes as they will all have different content but you can attend just one class also. The curriculum is geared towards female students, however, there is something for everyone to learn from these classes so please join us! Register at recportal.usu.edu.

Earthquake Engineering with Dr. Brady Cox
Lecture/Readings
Dr. Brady Cox is a professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Utah State University. He specializes in earthquake engineering and has been a part of earthquake reconnaissance teams deployed around the world to study large and damaging earthquakes. He will discuss how studying at USU launched his earthquake engineering career and ultimately led to him to the White House where he received an award from the President of the United States. Food will be provided at this event.
Entrepreneur Leadership Series: Andrew Daines

This week’s speaker is Andrew Daines, who in 2019 Andrew launched Chassie, which designs, makes, and sells artistic furniture out of an 8,000 sq. ft. facility in the Bronx. As the world of work evolves, Chassie focuses on home and office desks that meet the new needs of a flexible workforce. After just two years Chassie has designed and built its unique style of furniture for hundreds of consumers and companies from Adobe to Warby Parker to Google.

The CHaSS Alumni Lunch Series has gone online! Join us for Digital Take-Out as we discuss careers with esteemed alumni. Listen in and participate by asking questions during the live event on Zoom. Diana Call (MS ANTH '15, BS ANTH '07) got her start as an undergraduate building an exhibit for the Museum of Anthropology at Utah State University. From there she grew her skills at the Ogden Union Station before earning her M.S. in Archaeology and eventually making her way to southern Utah where she has been at the Dinosaur Discovery Site since 2016. Holly Andrew (BA ANTH '09) is an anthropologist, historian, and museum professional who serves as the Union Station Museum Curator. Holly actively works with Ogden City to improve the museum’s collections, interpretative exhibitions, and programs. She previously served as a public archaeologist with the University of Oklahoma and got her start at the Hyrum City Museum. All are welcome to join the conversation on Zoom, but to overlap with the ANTH 3310 course, this event will be held at 9am on February 3. This course is an introduction into lead climbing taught at the ARC Climbing Wall. You will learn proper techniques for climbing and belaying. Class size is capped at 6 people so get your spot early! Cahill Smith Faculty Piano Recital

Pianist Cahill Smith will perform a solo faculty piano recital featuring works of Beethoven, Liszt, and Medtner. ianist Cahill Smith has performed in major venues in the United States and abroad, including four programs at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York, Chongqing’s PolyTheatre, Zhuhai’s Mozart Hall, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s Calderwood Hall in Boston, Cleveland Museum of Art, the Royal Dublin Society’s Concert Hall, Buffalo’s Kleinhan’s Music Hall, and Birmingham’s Alys Stephens Center. Cahill has been featured as a concerto soloist with the National Ukranian Symphony Orchestra in Kiev, the Mongolian Symphony Orchestra in Hohhot, China, the Eastman Philharmonia, the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, the Chattanooga Symphony, the Butler Symphony Orchestra, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, and others. His live and studio recordings have been broadcast on WQXR, New York’s Classical Music Radio Station, WCRB, Classical Radio Boston, and WSMC, Chattanooga Public Radio. Cahill gave his first recital at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 2013 with a program dedicated entirely to works of Nikolai Medtner.
