USU Eastern, WILD 2400: Wildland Resources Techniques class will present their final research presentation at the Price Office of the Bureau of Land Management, BLM on Thursday, Nov. 21st from 9am-11am. Students in the Wildlife Ecology and Management major at USU Eastern will lead a group presentation. Students in this Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) and Research, Scholarship, & Creative Inquiry Intensive (RSCI) designated course will present their findings of a CURE (Classroom Undergraduate Research Experience). Students have used game cameras to document kit foxes, Vulpes macrotis, in Emery County, Utah. For addition details reach out to Sunshine Brosi, sunshine.brosi@usu.edu

USU Physics November Demo Show

Inquiring minds of all ages are invited to the 2024 USU Physics November Demo Show. This year's theme is "The Physics of Phase Transitions." Admission is free! USU physicist James Coburn will offer exciting demonstrations of freezing, boiling, melting and condensing. Demos will include making liquid air, making solid air, crushing a 55-gallon drum and making an ice bomb! USU's Department of Physics is pleased to offer this super-fun learning event to the Cache Valley community.

Colorado Plateau Dark Sky Cooperative’s Quarterly CONNECTIONS

TODAY’s TOPIC: Cultural Connections with the Night Sky People connect with the night sky in many ways. In this session, we will discuss how our experiences and culture shape our relationship, our values, and perspectives towards dark night skies. Our guest speakers include Ben Rupert, Cultural Specialist and Destination Development Lead for Nevada's Indian Territory, and Ravis Henry, Park Interpretive Ranger, with the National Park Service, Canyon de Chelly National Monument. The Quarterly CONNECTIONS include a series of interactive virtual meetings focused on ways to minimize light pollution and support the preservation and promotion of naturally dark night skies. Ecology Center Seminar Series: Dr. Xiaofeng Xu

The Ecology Center is honored to host Dr. Xiaofeng Xu, Principle Investigator of the Ecological Modeling and Integration Lab within the Biology Department at San Diego State University.
Dr. Xiaofeng Xu is a global change ecologist with a strong quantitative skill for ecological research. His major research interests are investigations of terrestrial biogeochemistry–climate feedback with a data-model integration approach. He is currently focusing on microbial macroecology and applications of ecological and evolutionary theories to understanding microbial contributions to carbon cycle and greenhouse gas flux in an Earth system modelling framework.

Research on Capitol Hill (ROCH) is an annual celebration of undergraduate research and creative pursuits. Students have the opportunity to show policy-makers how innovative and impactful their research is and how important the state’s support is to continue conducting such exciting work. From projects on drought-tolerant plants to performance anxiety, self-charging car batteries to social media trends, our students will have meaningful conversations with potential for significant impact on the state. If you are interested in presenting at a future ROCH event, check back when the application cycle opens in October 2024.
